Settlement
A flexible and efficient system
Among other things, the system can handle payments in several currencies and settlement via several central banks. All banks connected to the bankgiro system can use clearing. It can also be used by other financial institutions. Banks can decide individually what time they want clearing to take place and clearing frequency. For each payment product and type of transaction, the bank can state when it wants the settlement to take place.
The transactions are dealt with as they reach BGC. Settlement via the Swedish Central Bank or another settling institution can take place as the customer wishes – every hour, several times a day, or once a week.
BGC carries out
- Debiting and balance check inquiries
- Clearing and settlement instructions
- Reconciliations
